SASO has provided additional information on HS Codes and Standards for products that will require an IECEE or IECEX certificate to enter the Saudi market beginning November 1, 2021.

On September 9, 2021, SASO issued a reminder that Conformity Bodies are not allowed to issue any Product Certificates for food contact tools and devices that contain Asbestos. Suppliers must submit a DOC (Declaration of Conformity) to demonstrate that this substance is not present in their products.

On September 28, 2021, SASO issued a circular announcing a new HS Code has been added to the listed HS Codes for Non-Medical Face Masks: 630790990000. SASO also included a reminder that the Importer Product Declaration is required prior to the issuance of a Shipment Certificate (SC).

On September 29, 2021, SASO held a webinar to review the adoption of Saudi Standard 2815:2021 - Safety Requirements for Cord Extension Sets - 230V/12A. This standard replaces and supercedes SASO 2815:2010.

The objectives of the new standard are to:

• Increase the safety level for extension cords

• Amend the voltage used in the previous SASO Standard

• Continuous development of the SASO Standards

• Harmonization of SASO Standards with International Standards
